It turns out that, with a newly installed feeding system, it is not possible to feed high speed cigarette machinery without blockages. As there are many potential causes, it is not possible to hold the supplier responsible for this failure. Though running at a high air speed, the pneumatic transport is not properly working and poor transport / blockages cause undesired machine stoppages.
Approach
Feeding process simulation
After an analysis of the complete pneumatic feeding path, a review of the feeder concept provided by the equipment supplier and the machine air settings is carried out, leading to significant changes. The optimisation process is continued until the system is running without interruption at moderate air speed.
