Maximising Product Utilisation
The challenge
Saving raw product or other resources is key to increasing competitiveness. Frequently, large amounts of raw material are wasted while at the same time energy and other resources are lost. Product losses in the tobacco industry may range from three to eight per cent of infeed tobacco - a challenge for any plant to maximize its product yield! How we work with you
We analyse the production process step by step to assess the current situation in order to define measurable targets and benchmarks. In a second step, the reasons for losses will be carefully evaluated to implement appropriate measures such as offspec reduction, degradation minimisation, waste recovery or contamination prevention. All actions will be planned and put into practise in cooperation with an inhouse team. Finally, the results are evaluated and assessed in order to verify both results and remaining improvement potential.Benefits
- Direct Savings (e. g. in a 50 billion cigarette factory with 3€/kg tobacco, an increase in utilisation of only 0,1% would result in savings of T€ 120 per year)
- Indirect savings (improved finished product parameters, less wasting & cleaning costs)
- Improved process transparency
